SAFEBOR Absorbent Test
The purpose is to test and check the remaining Boric in timber. This can be
done by 2 methods.
1) Initial absorbent test using Circumin Reagent . This method is to test
absorbent of Boron in the organic tissue. Though this method can be done
easily and fast, it cannot identify the quantity of the Boric. Thus, it is
unable us to know how much Boric in the organic tissue. A result of using
this method solely is increasing unnecessary production cost.
2) Test by cutting a part of lumber: Wipe off the lumber cut surface, then
spray the test chemical “Circumin Reagent” directly to the cut surface and
leave it for a while for chemical reaction. The colours of the chemical
indicates Boron quantity inside the timber tissue as follows:
Red :
Sufficient Boron (SAFEBORE) for wood protection.
Orange : Little Boron (SAFEBORE) and
insufficient for wood protection.
Yellow :
Rare or None
Chemical Substance
SAFEBORE contains Boron which is of high quality and high
concentrated. When it is mixed with wood preservatives, it helps maintain
good colour of wood and keeps it away from being dull grey and protects wood
from being destroyed by insects, fungus or exposure to moisture which can
disturb rubber wood especially for furniture work.
Description:
Active Value : B2O3 min. concentration 52%
% BAE(WN) : min. concentration 92 %
Dilution Rate :
It can be diluted with water at up to 2,000 – 4,000 Liters per 20 kgs
chemicals (Depending on the required standard and application). Thus, it is
cost saving.
Application :
1. Mix chemical with water as required.
2. Use Vacuum pressure.
Process :
The treatment being used is the combination of vacuum and pressure
treatments. This is to be sure that the treatment can evenly go through and
to efficiently control the quantity of the chemical. The processes are as
follows:
1) Initial Vacuum Treatment : Use at least 25 inches (ปรอท) (635 mm.
ปรอท). Then, leave it for 30-60 minutes depending on the thickness of the
timber.
2) Flooding : fill the chemical in the pressure tube while doing
initial vacuuming. Then, release the chemical after the chemical is fully
filled in the tube. Next, press the chemical into the pressure tube. To make
the pressure about 180-200 pond per sq.inch (p.s.i.) and leave it for 30-60
minutes depending on the thickness of the timber.
3) Final Vacuum Treatment : After the pressure treatment, do release all
the chemical from the tube before doing final vacuum which is at least 25
inches ปรอท (635 mm. ปรอท) depending on the thickness of the timber).
Remark:-
The process is varied from case to case depending on the timber’s thickness
and moisture. You may seek the advice from the manufacturer. For the
protection of Pinhole Borer or Ambrossia Beetle, it is advised to mix more
insecticide chemical with SAFEBOR.
SAFEBORE
PRESERVATIVES
By nature, the weakness of rubber wood and other mix utility species is
being destroyed by insects, beetle, termite and fungus. Therefore, timber or
lumber may be treated with a preservative that protects it from being
destroyed by insects, fungus or exposure to moisture. Generally this is
applied through combined vacuum and pressure treatment.
According to the International Standard, this can be treated by using White
Powder preservative so call SAFEBORE. It provides long-term resistance to
organisms that cause deterioration. If it is applied correctly, it extends
the productive life of lumber.
To prevent and improve wood quality, it is necessary to prevent the wood
according to the International standard which can be done by using White
Powder preservative or SAFEBORE. SAFEBORE is white dry powder, dilutable in
water and imflamable.
SAFEBORE is not classified as hazardous treatment. It is also Formaldehine
and Sodium Pentachlorophenate (NapCP) free. Timber or lumber treated by
SAFEBORE treatment is good for furniture making.
